Cosmetics have evolved from being products of mere beautification to becoming indispensable agents in modern skin care.They now serve multiple functions, ranging from hydration and photoprotection to antiaging, pigmentation management, and microbiome balance.Innovations in cosmetic science have merged dermatological knowledge with biotechnology, creating multifunctional products that support both skin health and aesthetic appearance.This review highlights the diverse roles of cosmetics in cleansing, hydration, sun protection, regenerative and anti-aging care, pigmentation regulation, and microbiome balance.By exploring their scientific basis, therapeutic potential, and holistic value, this paper underscores how cosmetics contribute to both dermatological well-being and psychosocial confidence.
