Efficacy of Different Local Drug Delivery Systems in the Management of Peri-implantitis: An In Vivo Study
One benefit of using local delivery agents (LDA) is that they can transport large concentrations of antibiotics to the intended locations. However, their effectiveness can be limited by the continuous flow of saliva and gingival crevicular fluids. Longer implant retention is associated with a higher prevalence rate of peri-implantitis. Therefore, an effective modality to manage peri-implantitis is necessary owing to the fact that the number of implants is ever-increasing.
