Platformization of value creation chains and formation of structure-forming supports of military-post-war recovery: an example of renewable generation microgrid

The introduction of digital technologies transforms the institutional environment and expands the toolkit for ensuring economic development. The place, role, and value of the chains (networks) of value creation (C(N)V), which function through digital platforms (DPs), are all changing. They integrate into almost all components of social life. Understanding and complementary use of the potential of C(N)V digital transformations should be an important component in the creation of structure-forming supports for the military-driven renewal of the national economy. The purpose of the proposed work is to study the complementary principles of the DPs’ influence as a tool to transform the C(N)V model, and to define their potential, role, and place in the development of institutional grounds of the structure-forming supports in the wartime/postwar recovery of the national economy. The complex and complementary nature of changes in the institutional environment under the influence of C(N)V platforming is considered on the example of renewable generation microgrids. The specificity of the object of study causes a multidisciplinary approach. The author uses the groundworks of the theories of development, economic cycles, international political economy, economic sociology, behavioral economy, research on institutional analysis, concepts of global commodity chains, global C(N)V, global factories, production networks, data chains, and financial networks as well as the global chains of wealth and inequality/poverty resulting from the spread of the former. The article reveals the influence of digitalization, in particular, the spread of DPs, on the transformation of the institutional environment. Presented the theoretical foundations of the study on the complementarity of C(N)V elements. The influence of platformization on changes in the institutional architectonic of socio-economic systems is traced. Attention is focused on the "serviceization" of the value creation process and the spread of C(N)V in the service sector. On the example of microgrids of renewable generation, the author reveals the components of the complementary transformation of C(N)V at all levels of the institutional architectonic of the socio-economic system.
