Análisis de los factores limitantes en la producción de hortalizas: Un estudio del organopónico Pueblo Griffo Viejo en Cienfuegos
This article focused on the identification and analysis of limiting factors affecting vegetable production in the "Pueblo Griffo Viejo" organic farm, located in Cienfuegos, Cuba. Through non-experimental research, data collection was conducted over a ten-month period, utilizing methods such as surveys, field observations, and documentary review. The primary objective was to agronomically characterize vegetable production and determine the causes limiting yields in this cultivation system. The research results revealed that vegetable production in the organic farm was characterized by low yields, attributable to several critical factors. Among the most notable were poor substrate quality, inadequate water management, limited availability of organic matter, and limited participation in training activities. Furthermore, the workforce was identified as having a low educational level, which hindered the implementation of more efficient agricultural practices. The article also discussed the importance of Urban Agriculture in the Cuban context, highlighting its potential to contribute to food security and sustainable development. Based on this analysis, recommendations were made to improve vegetable production in organoponic farming, including training strategies and proper resource management, in order to optimize yields and promote a more resilient and sustainable agricultural system.
