Usage of origami structure on solar panels in yacht design
Solar panels on yacht is an equipment which transform solar energy into electricity, usually set on yacht to produce electricity. This technology generally doesn’t depend on fossil fuel, it cost less when we operate it and protect the environment as much as possible. The designing and installing of solar panels on yacht should consider about the structure of yacht, severe environment, weather and so on to ensure the stabilization of performance. As the demand of clean energy increasing, solar panels is being used widely gradually in shipping industry. However, due to the limited surface area, the electricity produced by solar panels is very limited. Origami solar panels is an innovative designing; it uses solar energy to create electricity and have the flexible of foldable structure to make it transport and stockpile expediently. These panels are made of materials which is lightweight and durable, so it could use in many occasions like camping, hiking, shipping or act as an emergency power source. Deployable structure could ensure the compactness and portability to make outdoor activity convenient and satisfy the needs of off-grid power. And these are the reason why solar panels are being more and more popular. It is observed that there is almost no solar panels that using in yacht, that's the reason this group designed the solar panels on yacht. Thus, solar panels could expand out of the top of the ship instead of limited by it. This group designed the origami picture and confirmed the origami structure solar panels adopted the project is the surrounding part wraps around the center hub. According to the massless link approach, there are squzzing when panels are folded. To avoid the harm squeezing between the different layer of panels, this group calculated the shape of fold line. In addition, this group use hinge and chute to link panels which might misalignment and slide.
