Claudius La Roussarie: Un personnage hors-série
This article presents the initial findings of research on Claudius La Roussarie, a theater actor and author active in France during the early twentieth century. Despite his literary production, he remains largely overshadowed by his career in the performing arts. Biographical and professional information about this unconventional cultural figure is scarce. La Roussarie began working in his father's pastry shop in Lyon before turning to theater and writing as a completely self-taught artist. Over time, he gained the appreciation of several contemporary intellectuals and developed a particular interest in medieval texts. This study aims to collect and analyze documentation on La Roussarie preserved in French libraries and archives, reconstructing his trajectory as both actor and author. The article presents the data gathered so far, offering a preliminary overview of La Roussarie’s life and work. These initial findings lay the groundwork for further research, with the broader goal of reassessing Claudius La Roussarie’s contributions and reviving his legacy.
