Abstract Beyond Self-Limitation and Self-Development. A Problematization of Sustainability in the Educational Discourse This article examines the role of sustainability in educational discourse, questioning which problem ›sustainability‹ or ›Education for Sustainable Development‹ aims to address. The thesis is that ›sustainability‹ and ›education‹, due to their shared structure and Enlightenment-liberal roots, cannot contain the de-limitation dynamics they contribute to. It explores the parallels and ethical implications of sustainability and education and suggests a relational perspective beyond sustainability.
