Developing professional competencies of journalism students in live radio broadcasts: pedagogical potential and methodological solutions

The aim of the study is to identify and justify the most effective pedagogical technologies that contribute to the development of professional competencies among journalism students necessary for conducting live radio broadcasts in a dual education system. The work examines the theoretical foundations of developing professional competencies of future journalists, as well as the key skills required for successful work in live broadcasting. Particular attention is paid to the analysis and application of pedagogical technologies in working with students, such as case studies, role-playing games, debates and discussions, the project method, voice and speech development training, problem-based learning, feedback, and self-analysis. The scientific novelty of the research lies in the creation of a comprehensive and well-founded system of pedagogical technologies aimed at developing the professional skills of journalism students in the process of conducting live radio broadcasts, which is confirmed empirically and presented in the form of practical recommendations. The results of an empirical study conducted at the Youth Media Holding “Est’ talk!” of Togliatti State University (within the framework of dual education) demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed pedagogical technologies in developing students’ professional skills. It was revealed that the use of modern pedagogical technologies makes it possible to increase the level of professional training of students majoring in Radio Journalism program and to acquire professional skills necessary for successful work in live broadcasting: improvisation and adaptation, dialogue and interviewing skills, factual accuracy, argumentation and structuring of speech, and self-reflection. Practical recommendations are offered for teachers of journalism departments to improve the effectiveness of teaching and training highly qualified specialists.
