Using satellite data AAI from different instruments for investigation of spatial temporal and seasonal distribution of dust pollution over Bulgaria

In this paper we use absorption aerosol index – AAI from different satellite instruments to investigate changes in spatial, temporal and seasonal distribution of dust pollution over Bulgaria for the period of 30 years - from 1995 till the end of 2024. As we use data from different sources, we don’t compare values but only spatial and seasonal distributions. Here we show a change in more polluted regions from North toward East Bulgaria. We obtain a similar seasonal behavior in AAI data from all instruments. The data from this study requires complex modeling and knowledge of the distribution in the surrounding area. The results are a key source of data for long-term climate monitoring, as well as for real-time observations for weather forecasting in the immediate vicinity.
