The Role of Television in the Continuity of Generations and the Formation of Value Attitudes and Guidelines

The article is devoted to the urgent problem of modern society — the spiritual, moral, and value-semantic crisis of intergenerational communication. The processes of formation of value attitudes and the influence of the media on the information behavior of age groups are analyzed. The emphasis is placed on commercial television in establishing the principle of social consensus and continuity of principles in the context of a new media reality. The results of previously conducted studies in 2020, 2022, 2023 and the results of the 2025 survey, in which 755 people aged 55+ took part, confirmed the authors’ hypotheses about the destructive role of television in intergenerational communication, the strengthening of unconditional trust, reliable abilities to form a formal human information space, emotional and behavioral stereotypes and the possibility of popularizing transgenerational ideals.
