The research progress on the mechanism of action and distribution migration of perfluorinated compounds in different environmental systems
Perfluorinated compounds (PFCs) are widely used in industry and commercial products as a kind of artificially synthesized persistent organic substances owning to high surface activity, and oleophobic properties. However, they are retained in the ecological environment due to their high stability, low concentrations but high toxicity, as well as long-distance and transboundary migration and self- diffusion, which particularly vulnerable to remain in eco-system. This article systematically reviews the structural characteristics of PFCs, in terms of the property of carbon and fluorine main chains and their functional groups, and the interaction mechanisms between PFCs and other pollutants. Moreover, it expands on the source and transport distribution characteristics of atmosphere, water, soil and sediment environmental systems based on distribution status of ecological environments for PFCs. Furthermore, use the simulation to make a further outlook on the mechanism of action of PFCs in the environment, toxicity accumulation and degradation treatment technology.
