Angular dependence of magnetoresistance in polycrystalline graphite

This study explores the angular characteristics of magnetoresistance (MR) in highly oriented polycrystalline graphite. Utilizing x-ray diffraction and Raman scattering spectra, the structural characterization of the polycrystalline graphite samples was confirmed to its turbostratic nature. Our experimental results reveal that MR of the polycrystalline graphite exhibits significant variation with respect to the angle of the magnetic field, demonstrating distinct anisotropic behavior in the transverse configuration. Conversely, in the transverse-longitudinal configuration, anisotropy is minimal, indicating the quasi-two-dimensional characteristics of electronic conduction predominant. Furthermore, Temperature shows negligible influence on the anisotropy, suggesting stability in the Fermi surface's anisotropy across varying temperatures.
