Perfil-tipo e marcos estratigráficos da Bacia de Campos

This work was conceived in the late 1990’s and essentially corresponds to a typical well-log for the central portion of the Campos Basin. In an effort to represent the most complete sedimentary succession possible for this region of the Basin, this profile was constructed primarily as a reference to assist in high-resolution stratigraphic correlation between wells. To obtain a comprehensive sedimentary succession in the regions of the fields of the Marlim Complex, Caratinga, Barracuda, Albacora, and Albacora Leste, it was used the most representative intervals of some wells. The interval selection based on high-resolution stratigraphic correlations conducted using well logs from approximately 850 wells drilled in the Campos Basin. This analysis enabled the identification of the main stratigraphic discontinuity surfaces (sequence boundaries), their correlative conformities, and depositional stratigraphic markers. The chosen intervals exhibit major depositional continuity, ensuring that the wells selected for the construction of this typical well-log were in areas with lower incidence of erosion and/or non-deposition. For the construction of this typical well-log, Gamma Ray (GR), Resistivity, and DT (Transit Time) logs were used. These markers, recognized in well logs and treated with seismic data, core samples, and biostratigraphy, allowed for the establishment of the high-resolution stratigraphic framework of the studied area. Stratigraphic discontinuity surfaces of erosive nature and their correlative continuities contributed to increase the level of detail of the informal chronostratigraphic framework provided by the depositional stratigraphic markers. Consequently, such surfaces and markers constitute the fundamental physical elements of this high resolution stratigraphic subdivision. The framework obtained, represented by a dense mesh of well-log patterns, reflects the informal chronostratigraphic subdivision of the basin.
