A Comprehensive Study of Optimization Techniques for Load Flow Analysis in Power System Networks and their Application in Demand-Side Management

Abstract: The comparative analysis of power flow techniques is investigated in this research article. Power flow is widely used in power system design and operation. The important generation, load, and network data are utilized to build the power flow model of a power system. Power engineers must design, build, and maintain the power system to ensure that it operates reliably and safely. Numerous power flow studies are required to ensure that power is consistently supplied in an adequate amount, despite normal load variations and negative events, such as contingencies. Daily changes in how the power system operates are the reason for power flow imbalances at bus bars. The bus bars' voltage magnitude and angle adjust quickly to ensure that the transmitted power is almost equal to the load. To address non-linear load flow problems while accounting for various constraints, several traditional and innovative approaches have been developed. While conventional approaches often yield a solution within a reasonable amount of time, they can occasionally result in issues with mathematical rigor, such as a narrow convergence zone and an ill-conditioned system. This paper presents a comprehensive analysis of several intelligent techniques applied to load flow studies of various power system networks under defined conditions. The new equilibrium point can also be obtained by simulations using power flow methods. Load flow studies are a crucial tool for identifying optimal operating conditions and determining the most suitable power system network architecture for the future.
