Tailored temperature field of dashed scanning in electron beam powder bed fusion for Ti6Al4V alloys
Electron beam powder bed fusion (PBF-EB) with high energy utilization is a metal additive manufacturing technique, limited by unsatisfactory surface qualities originated from the staircase effect of heat accumulation. In order to improve product quality, a dashed scanning strategy was adopted in this paper to study the simulated temperature field of Ti6Al4V alloy melt pool. The results show that by controlling key parameters such as the number of dashed line segments, the proportion of overlapping distance, and cooling time in dashed line scanning, the temperature and shape of the molten pool can be controlled to a certain extent, thereby promoting the formation of good surface quality and providing a feasible parameter optimization design idea for surface quality optimization research.
