Material processing technology for transparent photovoltaics via laser ablation and surface engineering

To achieve transparency in photovoltaics (PVs), laser processing has been utilized as an emerging technology because it efficiently transfers energy to localized surfaces and areas without the assistance of masks, enabling the desired patterning on multilayered PV structures. However, conventional laser processing leaves residues and causes damage, thereby degrading the optical properties. In this talk, we discuss the novel fabrication of transparent PVs from the perspective of component materials through laser processing technology. Our approaches to material processing and device fabrication methods provide a pathway to overcoming the physical and optical limitations of PVs, offering insights into the novel fabrication of PVs.
