Traduire en grec “Partage de Midi” et “Le soulier de satin”
Translating Claudel’s plays is a demanding challenge for a translator. Claudel’s theatrical work is complex and full of linguistic originalities, but if we transmit the text into the target language with great care, preserving the correct meanings of the sentences, however incomprehensible they may seem at first sight, and if we elaborate this excessive language like a sculptor who works on his materials with finesse and, at the same time, great attention so as not to neglect the primitive character of this very complex style, we can perhaps restore in our language something quite close to the original text reflecting Claudelian genius.
