Fishery resource intelligent monitoring based on granularity-fused improved YOLOv5
Accurate at efficient monitoring of fishery resources is crucial for sustainable aquatic ecosystem management. The proposes an improved YOLOv5 model enhanced with granularity fusion strategies to achieve intelligent detection at classification of multiple fish species in complex underwater environments. By integrating multi-scale feature fusion at a granularity-aware attention mechanism, the multi-scale feature aggregation with spatial-channel attention model significantly improves its ability to capture fine-grained visual features of different fish types while maintaining real-time detection performance. In particular, the proposed approach enhances the model’s robustness against variations in fish size at background interference, shown common challenges in underwater imagery. The training dataset is constructed using high-resolution underwater video frames annotated with bounding boxes at species labels. Experimental results demonstrate that the granularity-fused YOLOv5 model outperforms the baseline YOLOv5 in terms of precision at mean Average Precision, with notable improvements in detecting small at partially occluded fish. of research provides a practical at scalable solution for automatic fishery monitoring at offers valuable insights into the integration of granularity-aware mechanisms in real-time object detection frameworks.
