DESCARTE DAS EMBALAGENS PÓS-CONSUMO
The intensification of waste impacts has raised concerns about its reuse, recycling, and reduction, particularly due to the inadequacy of legal frameworks and incentive programs for selective waste collection in the country. To contribute to such discussions, the study aimed to identify the association between consumption habits and perceptions of selective waste collection among residents in the northern region of Londrina (PR). A quantitative cross-sectional survey was conducted for this purpose, involving 266 participants from ten neighborhoods in the region. Positive associations were observed between participation in waste collection and efforts to reduce waste generation; the program's duration and consistency may have fostered the habit of separating waste, and information about selective waste collection likely encouraged participation. The results indicate that the longevity of a program and the regularity of waste collection can lead to greater public participation, highlighting the need for reeducation.
