New Records of Vaucheria (Xanthophyceae) from East Transcaucasia

Four Vaucheria species are reported from East Transcaucasia, including new national records for Georgia (V. sescuplicaria) and Azerbaijan (V. canalicularis, V. synandra). V. sescuplicaria, previously known mostly from European coasts and saline inland habitats, is first recorded for the Caucasus and West Asia. V. synandra, a rare and predominantly marine species, is first recorded from the Caspian Sea coast. Morphology and distribution of all species are briefly discussed.
