A variação diatópica mexicana em dicionários monolíngues de língua espanhola

In this research, 52 Mexican lexical units are analyzed in four monolingual Spanish dictionaries, two printed ones, Diccionario de Mexicanismos and Diccionario de Hispanoamericanismos; and two electronic ones, Diccionario de la Lengua Española (DLE) and Diccionario del español de México (DEM). Thus, the objective was to provide an overview of the listed dictionaries, analyze the types of Mexicanisms and evaluate how these lexemes are treated in the selected works. The results show that, even though it is a printed dictionary, Diccionario de Mexicanismos covered the largest number of cases compared to the other lexicographical works, highlighting the importance of constructing these dictionaries for the recognition of specific language varieties. The study also contributed to the teaching of Spanish as a foreign language (SFL) by highlighting the importance of using monolingual dictionaries by learners of SFL.
