Features of the epidemic situation of hepatitis B virus in the Russian Federation on the way to elimination

Great strides have been made in the fight against hepatitis B (HBV). Immunization of the population has led to a decrease in morbidity, mortality and a reduction in the proportion of children under the age of five suffering from chronic hypertension. The purpose of the study: to assess the incidence and immunization against HBV in the Russian Federation, to assess the immunization status of 2,623 children in an outpatient clinic and 5,909 newborns in the center for motherhood and childhood in the Moscow region. It was found that in Russia, the vaccination coverage of the decreed population groups against HBV in 2023-2024 was more than 95%. At the same time, there is a violation of the timing of vaccinations. Thus, in the maternity hospital in 2019-2023, 34.95% of newborns did not receive timely vaccination against HBV. In the polyclinic in 2023-2024 at the age from 0 to 11 months. Vaccination coverage was 51.07% and 50.88%, 36-59 years – 92.06-93.08%, over 60 years – 44.20-48.21%, respectively. The study revealed an increase in the level of seronegative individuals from 36.3% in 2019 to 45.7% in 2024, which justifies the need for constant monitoring of HCV circulating in the country, improving the vaccination strategy and monitoring its ef fectiveness.
