Integrated computational approach for predicting viscoelastic and thermal behavior in rubber-cord composites

Purpose This study focuses on the development of integrated software and computational algorithms to analyze viscoelastic characteristics and self-heating phenomena in rubber-cord materials, which are crucial for various industrial applications. Design/methodology/approach The research combines experimental data processing and computational methods to identify viscoelastic parameters and predict temperature fields within the material. A dual-annealing optimization algorithm was implemented in the software to identify viscoelastic constants and boundary conditions parameters based on numerical simulations and experimental data sets. Findings Experimental data are gathered from cyclic loading tests performed on rubber-cord specimens to measure self-heating temperatures and hysteresis loops under varying strain amplitudes and frequencies. The methodology includes algorithms for solving the strain state, determining heat dissipation and addressing thermal conductivity problems. The results demonstrated acceptable convergence and accuracy, verified through independent comparisons of experimental and simulated data. Originality/value This integrated computational approach provides a reliable means of modeling the behavior of rubber-cord materials under operational conditions, enhancing the prediction of their performance and lifespan.
