The role of a parameter in the rehabilitation process of patients with multiple sclerosis
Among patients with multiple sclerosis, 72 % are disabled, of which 35 % are under 28 years of age. Among the disabled, severe disability groups I and II predominate, accounting for almost 73 %. In this regard, the rehabilitation of patients with multiple sclerosis plays a key role in improving their quality of life and restoring functional capabilities. A paramedic is an important member of a multidisciplinary team working with such patients. Objective. To determine the role of a paramedic in the rehabilitation process of patients with multiple sclerosis. Results. The special literature on the etiology, pathogenesis, clinical picture and diagnostics of multiple sclerosis was studied; patients with multiple sclerosis were surveyed and the patients’ problems in rehabilitation and adaptation to new living conditions were identified; the main tasks of the paramedic and the areas of work on rehabilitation of patients with multiple sclerosis were highlighted. Conclusion. In the conditions of shortage of neurologists and rehabilitation specialists, especially in rural areas and remote regions, the paramedic becomes a key figure in providing primary health care and organizing rehabilitation activities for patients with multiple sclerosis. His competencies include not only diagnostics and treatment of concomitant diseases, but also active participation in the development and implementation of individual rehabilitation programs.
