Trombitások az 1848-1849-es szabadságharcban

The topic of military musicians and the use of military sound signals in the Hungarian War of Independence of 1848- 49 was an under-researched field until recently. This study examines the duties, training, numbers, and equipment of trumpeters on the Hungarian side using archival and published sources, as well as academic literature. While organizing the national guard and the army, Hungarian leadership continued to use the sound signals and the principles of using musicians utilized by the Austrian imperial military to accelerate training, and to have a more unified organization. While Hungarian forces faced a constant shortage of musicians, as well as difficulties in acquiring instruments during the war of independence that started in response to the policies of the Austrian government, they succeeded in using trumpeters as the basis of their military communication and transmitting orders.
