ECR Spotlight – Nadine Schmidbauer

ECR Spotlight is a series of interviews with early-career authors from a selection of papers published in Journal of Experimental Biology and aims to promote not only the diversity of early-career researchers (ECRs) working in experimental biology but also the huge variety of animals and physiological systems that are essential for the ‘comparative’ approach. Nadine Schmidbauer is an author on ‘ Cephalic stimulation of pre-absorptive protein synthesis in Burmese pythons’, published in JEB. Nadine conducted the research described in this article while a graduate student in Professor Tobias Wang's lab at Aarhus University Department of Biology – Zoophysiology, Denmark. Nadine is now a PhD student in the lab of Professor Kristine Krug at Leibniz Institute for Neurobiology, Germany, investigating the role the pulvinar nuclei play in primate vision, specifically in depth perception, using MRI and chemogenetics.
