Ultrasound catheter thrombolysis for the treatment of pulmonary embolism: the first experience in the Russian Federation
Treatment of pulmonary embolism (PE) is still an urgent problem worldwide due to complications of systemic thrombolytic therapy. This review examines ultrasound catheter thrombolysis using the EKOS system, indications, patient selection and current state of the issue. The device itself, appropriate manipulations and several clinical cases in the Russian Federation are described in detail. The authors described implantation technique and ultrasound thrombolysis.
