Suspended, subwavelength-perforated metal absorber for mid-infrared bolometry

We design and fabricate a perforated metal absorber to achieve absorption in the mid-infrared. We demonstrate 70% absorption near 3 µm in a suspended, thin-film device suitable for bolometric applications.
