Photoinduced Effects in Elasticity and Mechanical Loss of GaAs for High-Precision Optical Metrology

We present illumination-dependent mechanical loss measurements in bulk GaAs from room temperature down to cryogenic temperatures. The results indicate that mechanical loss and elasticity is changed due to photoinduced electron-hole-pair generation.
