Selective Photon Extraction for Laser Cooling of Semiconductors

We report numerical calculations of fluorescent photon extraction from a GaAs body clad with DBRs designed to increase the mean fluorescence energy. The ≈6meV increase produced illustrates the potential of selective extraction in laser cooling.
