Thermal Infrared Detection with an Optically-Probed Photonic Crystal Bolometer

We present a photonic crystal bolometer combining optical readout with long-wave infrared sensitivity. Initial results demonstrate feasibility, while phase-locked homodyne detection aims to measure state-of-the-art trade-offs between detectivity ( > 10 10 Jones) and response speed.

Abstract

We present a photonic crystal bolometer combining optical readout with long-wave infrared sensitivity. Initial results demonstrate feasibility, while phase-locked homodyne detection aims to measure state-of-the-art trade-offs between detectivity ( > 10 10 Jones) and response speed.
