On-site measurement method for wind turbine blade molds based on laser trackers

With the global energy transition, the installed capacity of wind turbines is increasing year by year. Wind turbine blades are the core components of wind turbines, and their accuracy will directly affect the conversion efficiency of wind energy. The manufacturing of wind turbine blades often relies on blade molds, and the accuracy of the blade molds directly determines the aerodynamic performance and power generation efficiency of the blades. Laser trackers, with their advantages of high accuracy and wide range measurement, have become the mainstream tool for inspecting wind turbine blade molds. In this paper, taking the API(Automated Precision Inc) OmniTrac2 laser tracker as an example, combined with Spatial Analyzer (SA) analysis software, a full-process on-site measurement method of "measurement preparation - leveling - data acquisition - analysis and processing" was designed for wind turbine blade molds. This method was applied to the accuracy inspection of the profile and leading and trailing edges of the 103-SS wind turbine blade mold. A total of 6,051 data points were collected for the profile, and 2937 data points for the leading and trailing edge. After analyzing and processing, it was found that they all met the tolerance requirements. The entire measurement process has formed a reusable standard operating procedure, which effectively improves the inspection efficiency and provides technical support for the quality control of the wind turbine blade mold throughout its life cycle.
