Emerging electrical phenomena in the Fe5GeTe2

Two-dimensional (2D) magnetic van der Waals (vdW) materials are promising for spintronic applications due to their tunable magnetism and layered structures. Fe₅₋ₓGeTe₂ features a high Curie temperature (~320 K) and a non-centrosymmetric crystal structure, enabling topological spin textures like helices and skyrmions. Structural analysis reveals a √3 × √3 Fe(1) superstructure that breaks inversion symmetry and drives helimagnetism via antisymmetric exchange. A reversible current-induced transition between ferromagnetic (FM) and antiferromagnetic (AFM) coupling enhances magnetoresistance from 5% to 170%. Anomalous Hall signals above a critical current confirm AFM behavior. We also explore magnetic resonance and self-induced inverse spin Hall effect (ISHE) in FM and chiral soliton lattice (CSL) states. The FM phase shows a Kittel mode, while CSL supports multiple magnon modes. ISHE appears strongly in the CSL state (~1.3 μV), with sign reversal by resonance. These results suggest Fe₅₋ₓGeTe₂ as a compelling platform for 2D topological spintronics.
