Nanotech Science for Drug Delivery Platforms
Nanotech science refers to a new approach in therapeutic delivery that uses very tiny particles, known as nanoparticles (1–100 nm), to deliver medicines directly to the affected region. The process enables one to minimize harmful side effects and increases the efficacy of treatments. It also makes disease diagnosis possible and makes it easier the crossing of barriers such as the blood-brain barrier. Different platforms including liposomes, polymeric nanoparticles, dendrimers, and gold nanoparticles have been designed for this reason. These nano platforms find applications in the treatment of cancer, gene therapy, vaccine delivery, and management of brain diseases. Preclinical trials on nano-based drugs such as Doxil®, Abraxane®, and Onivyde® have indicated promising outcomes. This technology has vast potential to revolutionize future medical therapies
