Neologia e identidade de gênero

Understanding that the lexicon is constantly being altered to respond to new social developments, the main objective of this study is to analyze the neologicity and uses of the lexical unit boyceta, which came to light in 2024 after a podcast episode was aired. Regarding this criterion for establishing neologicity, we emphasize that the works consulted to verify its (non-)registration refer to the main Portuguese language dictionaries (Frankenberg-Garcia). We reflect on the neological unit boyceta and discuss some of its uses on the internet, drawing from a corpus composed of journalistic textual materials, both informative and opinionated, derived from Google search results. To corroborate our analyses, we also observe the interest in the lexical unit on the internet through Google Trends. We used a qualitative-descriptive methodology and a theory that encompasses themes such as lexicon, neology and gender identity, based on authors such as: Biderman (2001), Alves and Maroneze (2018), Woodward (2014), Vicente and Brandi (2021), Jesus (2012), Grossi (1998), among others. The results show that some uses of the lexical unit are made with an inclination to respect diversity and others, conversely, delegitimize the gender identity called boyceta.
