Energy Efficient Wide Bandgap Semiconductor SiC Based Electric Vehicle and their Applications

Abstract The solutions of environmentally friendly and sustainable energy transport is very important. In this atmosphere, development of EV technology with WBG Semiconductor has proven large performance. This article proposes Wide Band Gap (WBG) power semiconductor devices in Electric Vehicle (EV), WBG power electronics system has a huge potential to increase EV efficiency, improved mileage, reliability, less weight, less space, High switching frequency, cost reduction, Boosting power density. However, this adoption is still challenging in packaging and power conversion design. In the past few decades, power electronics WBG devices have been the most significant revolution in EVs. This paper concentrates on future trends in different areas for efficient electric vehicles and progress using WBG materials to overcome the obstacles.
