Dose-efficient ptychography using annular refractive lenses

We explore the combination of a central stop with a conventional compound refractive lens to create an annular lens. As the achievable resolution in ptychography is determined by the highest numerical aperture, blocking the central regions of the lens reduces dose while maintaining resolution. Results from simulations show comparable image quality at a third of the radiation dose.

Abstract

We explore the combination of a central stop with a conventional compound refractive lens to create an annular lens. As the achievable resolution in ptychography is determined by the highest numerical aperture, blocking the central regions of the lens reduces dose while maintaining resolution. Results from simulations show comparable image quality at a third of the radiation dose.
