High-energy neutron imaging with a compact accelerator
While thermal neutron imaging has been used extensively for nondestructive testing (NDT) of aerospace and defense components, fast (high-energy) neutron imaging is comparatively niche due in part to the lack of readily accessible neutron sources with sufficient neutron flux to perform production-scale imaging. Phoenix operates a neutron imaging center using a compact accelerator which offers both thermal and fast neutron beams for both NDT and R&D customers spanning aerospace, defense, and academia. This presentation will provide an overview of the facility and services available with a focus on fast neutron imaging applications and standards development efforts.
