Undiagnosed Panhypopituitarism for 15 years – A Case Report

A bstract Panhypopituitarism is a rare and often misdiagnosed or underdiagnosed disorder because of the apparently long period between the etiology and clinical manifestations. Diagnosis in underdeveloped nations is a challenge, especially in resource-poor settings. However, with a high index of suspicion, correct diagnosis and appropriate hormone replacement therapy at affordable price are essential for patients’ recovery and survival. In this article, we report a case of a 41-year-old female patient whose laboratory test findings revealed secondary hypothyroidism, hypogonadotropic hypogonadism, low serum cortisol, low growth hormones (GHs), hypercholesterolemia, and hypertriglyceridemia. Her low serum cortisol and GH did not respond to insulin-induced hypoglycemia. Her condition arose after what appeared to be a successfully managed postpartum hemorrhage.
