Plasma photonic structures as optical elements for high power lasers

Plasma is a robust medium for manipulating intense laser pulses. Plasma photonic structures are formed by ballistic motion of ions, which gain momentum from space charge fields of layered electrons. We demonstrate some of their properties, including birefringence, lensing, high-efficiency reflection, and amplification.

Abstract

Plasma is a robust medium for manipulating intense laser pulses. Plasma photonic structures are formed by ballistic motion of ions, which gain momentum from space charge fields of layered electrons. We demonstrate some of their properties, including birefringence, lensing, high-efficiency reflection, and amplification.
