Attosecond Dynamics of Virtual Charges in Dielectrics

We investigate attosecond electron dynamics in single-crystal diamond triggered by few-femtosecond optical pulses. Supported by numerical simulations and modelling, our findings reveal the distinct roles of light-induced intra- and inter-band processes in virtual carrier dynamics.
