All-Optical Chirality Switching in Plasmonic Metasurfaces

Excitation of hot electrons in local regions leads to spatially inhomogeneous profiles of transient refractive index in plasmonic nanostructures. We demonstrate how the refractive index gradient can be exploited for photoinduced chirality with selectable handedness.
