Photoexcitation Points to a New Mechanism of Third Harmonic Generation in Zinc Oxide
We show that generation of photoexcited carriers in zinc oxide yields ~50-fold enhancement of third-harmonic generation (THG). The enhanced-THG follows quadratic (rather than cubic) scaling with power, providing direct evidence for a new nonlinear mechanism.
