Low Loss Surface Gratings Demonstrated in Bragg Laser Diodes

Typical gratings used in single-mode laser diodes introduce high scattering losses. In this work, gratings are developed for applications requiring low losses, and are demonstrated showing >40 dB SMSR and tunable single-mode operation.
