Second Harmonic Generation into the Near UV in Zr-diffusion-doped Lithium Tantalate Ridge Waveguides

Efficient second harmonic generation at 400nm is demonstrated in highly photorefractive damage resistant periodically-poled Zr in-diffused LiTaO 3 ridge waveguides. With 540mW in-coupled power 49mW of blue light were generated, yielding 3.5 %W -1 cm -2 normalized conversion efficiency.

Abstract

Efficient second harmonic generation at 400nm is demonstrated in highly photorefractive damage resistant periodically-poled Zr in-diffused LiTaO 3 ridge waveguides. With 540mW in-coupled power 49mW of blue light were generated, yielding 3.5 %W -1 cm -2 normalized conversion efficiency.
