BIOMARKERS OF ANEMIC RETINOPATHY: CURRENT OPPORTUNITIES AND PERSPECTIVES
Anemic retinopathy (AR) occurs in various types of anemia such as iron deficiency, β-thalassemia, and aplastic anemia. Although patients with AR often lack obvious visual complaints, optical coherence tomography (OCT) and OCT angiography (OCTA) can detect early morphometric and functional retinal changes. This article reviews the diagnostic and prognostic value of AR biomarkers and discusses the perspectives of early detection and monitoring.
