Aerodynamic Optimization and Flow Field Simulation of a Multistage Axial-Flow Compressor for Compressed Air Energy Storage System
In response to the critical role of the compressor in the compressed air energy storage (CAES) system, a one-dimensional design and optimization program for a multistage axial-flow compressor was developed. Genetic algorithms were integrated into the one-dimensional design program, and after multiple iterations, a set of optimal performance parameters was obtained. Based on the one-dimensional design, a three-dimensional model of the multistage axial-flow compressor was established, and numerical simulation calculations were conducted for verification. The simulation results demonstrate that the isentropic efficiency of the optimized compressor under design conditions reaches 80.4%, with a mere 2.15% relative deviation from the 1D aerodynamic design theoretical value (82.17%), which validates the rationality of the design approach.
