Implementation of IoT Based Poultry Farm Monitoring System with Real Time Data Analysis
This article portraits an IoT-based embedded system for smart chicken farming, enabling real-time monitoring of environmental conditions and fire detection through a NodeMCU microcontroller-based front-end integrated with high-precision sensors, including a calibrated MQ-135 sensor (for CO<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">2</inf> and NH<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">3</inf> detection), an optical dust sensor (for air quality), a DHT-11 sensor (for temperature and humidity), and ultrasonic sensors (for feed and water level tracking). The system features automated feed dispensing via a servo motor, while the Blynk-powered backend provides real-time data visualization, processing, and secure MySQL database storage for sensor validation, and comprehensive analysis. Prototype testing across three regions in Bangladesh validates its effectiveness in maintaining optimal environmental parameters (e.g., temperature: 24–35°C, humidity: 60–70%). Additionally, a cost analysis confirms the commercial viability of large-scale deployment, ensuring both technical and economic feasibility.
