Desigualdades de Género y Liderazgo Corporativo: Estudio Descriptivo y Correlacional de la Participación Femenina en 715 Empresas Líderes a Nivel Mundial

This study analyzes inequalities and opportunities for gender equity in senior management globally, with an emphasis on the participation of women in executive positions at the 715 highest-performing companies. The objective was to identify patterns, gaps, and characteristics associated with female leadership, as well as to evaluate its impact on corporate performance. The research was conducted using a descriptive, correlational, and empirical design, based on secondary data from the TIME and Statista rankings. The final sample included variables such as gender, age, academic background, and industrial sector. The results show that only 8.81% of CEOs are women, but the companies they lead have, on average, a slightly higher overall score than their male counterparts (88.18 vs. 86.69; p = .024). Female representation is higher in sectors such as telecommunications, professional services, and financial services, while their presence decreases dramatically in traditionally male-dominated industries such as technology, automotive, and manufacturing. The statistical analysis showed no significant differences in revenue growth by gender, although a higher ranking was observed for companies with female leadership. It is concluded that, despite recent progress, structural and cultural barriers persist that limit the presence of women in senior management. Overcoming these barriers requires public policies, organizational reforms, and mentoring initiatives that promote equity and recognize the strategic value of female leadership.
