The Impact of Copyright Notification Message Types on User Emotional Responses and Reuse Intentions for Generative AI Images

The purpose of this paper is to verify the effect of copyright notification message types (neutral, warning, and persuasive messages) for generative AI images on users' emotional responses and image reuse intentions. An experimental study was conducted with randomly assigned 90 participants. The analysis revealed that positive emotions had a significant effect on the intention to reuse images, while negative emotions did not have a significant effect on the intention to reuse images. These results suggest that when designing copyright notices for generative AI content, a friendly and educational message approach that induces positive emotions may be more effective than a warning or negative approach. This study provides academic and practical contributions to message design for the effective and responsible use of generative AI images. Further research is needed to consider users' ethical awareness, personal characteristics, and various contextual variables in a more in-depth manner.
